FRIENDLY AND COMPASSIONATE SERVICE

Welcome to our Community page, here are just a few of the many things we support and do to support the wonderful community of Goosnargh.  We hope you’ll come visit us and get involved too.

With the help of Whittingham Parish Council and other funding bodies we have recently invested some £150,000 to improve our carbon footprint by dramatically reducing heat loss from the hall by completely renewing the hall roof using a ‘warm roof’ construction method, and installing double glazing.

We are proud to support the Festival Committee and the villagers of Goosnargh and Whittingham. This is especially apparent when they come together on the Saturday following Spring Bank Holiday Monday to celebrate the annual Whitsuntide Festival.

This annual much-anticipated event starts with traditional Maypole dancing whilst the procession forms up. A vibrant array of participants headed by the Apple Blossom Children and featuring fancy dress and decorated floats accompanies the retiring and new Festival Queens and their visitors from surrounding communities. Later, the newly-crowned Queen together with local dignitaries and the Mayor and Consort of the City of Preston return to the village hall for the legendary ‘Celebration Tea’.
